Podcast Tidbits

I listen to a number of podcasts during the week, mainly focused on health. The November 24 episode of the  Dhru Purohit show he had Dr. Jeffery Bland as a guest. Dr. Bland shared five rules that he now uses in his life. They apply to all of us and worthy of a share:

  1. You don’t have to work with anyone you don’t want to. Yes, for some this is an issue, but there are ways to find new work, change your work situation. At a certain point in life you really can say you don’t have to work with anyone you don’t want to.

  2. Do things that have social value.

  3. Relationships with people  are the most important thing for my time. Value your relationships, spend time with people you enjoy being around. Make an effort to see people you haven’t seen in a while. Reach out to old friends, text and say hello, it makes a difference.

  4. Is what I am doing creating a legacy and am I using my knowledge for the betterment of those around me?

  5. Time is limited: base your decisions on this. Does this use of my time fit the above ideals?

Take you what you need from these, run with them and make your life better. Let me know what you do!

On the topic of podcasts, I was a guest on Living Right with Bill Cortwright in early December. A long time friend and mentor, it was a pleasure to have a chance to speak with him on growth and creativity.
