Health! Oura Ring
The Oura Ring arrived and I have been wearing it for a couple of weeks now. It takes at least two weeks for the ring to gather enough data to provide feedback. I am liking the Oura ring for sleep and activity. I feel that for sleep it is superb, telling you light sleep, deep sleep and REM sleep. All important stages of sleep. As we age, our sleep patterns change. Especially with menopause interrupting the flow sleep-giving flow of progesterone.
I thought I was having long periods of wakefulness at night, only to learn that it’s a light sleep phase and normal. It’s that time period after you have been to sleep for several hours that you wake and would swear that you have stayed awake for several hours, only to fall back asleep deeply about 3am.
The ring is also good for activity tracking, better than my Apple Watch I would say. The watch is reluctant to measure activity. I find I have to coax it into tracking what I am doing by selecting an activity. The Oura ring meanwhile is asking me if I was doing an activity.
In no way am I discounting my Apple watch. I love it and all the functionality it offers beyond fitness tracking. Rumor has it that Apple is looking into their own ring! We will see what the health tracking industry does as time goes on.
