Health Goals
Health: In the quest of staying as healthy as possible with the goal of a long health span to match my life span I invested in a Withing’s Body + bathroom scale. This is a smart scale that measures body fat, bone weight, water percentage and BMI. Fat percentage is the key one. I am what is called TOFI, thin on the outside, fat on the inside. My body fat percentage falls into the gray area of ok or obese. My body fat was there several years ago and it is a stubborn beast to budge. My diet is pretty decent but I need more cardio exercise. For me it has to be fun and interesting - but then that is life in general!
Time for me to up my cardio workouts to several times a week at my target heart rate of 108 bmp. Then to maintain that for at least 20 minutes. Too high and it defeats the fat loss purpose by stressing the body, which then stores fat. Too low and no fat loss is achieved. My goal is to get the fat below 30%. Ideally we all should be about 25-28%.
I have only had the scale for about a week. I am still learning the tracking and how to use the information. Next up on the healthy geek is an Oura Ring. I have the sizing kit ordered. Once I figure out the size then I will order the ring. Oura Rings measure activity, sleep, oxygen levels and heart rate variability. I will touch on these next month.
