What Is Inspiring Me This Month?

An April Morning along the Deschutes River in Bend, Oregon

Acrylic pouring. I have a friend who is doing this with excellent results. I am almost talked into going out and getting Floetrol to mix with my liquid acrylics and give it a go. Floetrol is found in most house painting departments. It makes latex and acrylic paints flow without diluting the color. I need a hair dryer too. Having had short hair for the majority of my adult life I don’t own a hair dryer. Artists use hair dryers to push the liquid paint around the canvas to create beautiful wave-like designs.  Check out Miki’s work at her Society 6 page: https://society6.com/mikibennettdesigns

Also of inspiration are large thick cardboard signs I acquired at work. They are old display signs that are perfect for random abstract acrylic painting, collage or even that paint pour that I may try. I may do all three!  We are having a couple more weeks of winter which makes for good indoor art time.

Fred Mullett of the wonderful rubber stamp fish designs has created a series of lovely images that are available as shirts, stickers, hats, etc. to support Ukrainian Refugees. Find his work at: https://www.redbubble.com/people/MullettHouse/shop
