Easter Watercolor Card

Easter Card by Lee E. Kellogg

Like the St. Patrick’s Day Card, this Easter card is pretty straight forward.

Materials needed:

Watercolor paper - any weight

Water

Washi or masking tape

Watercolors

Sparkling watercolors

Watercolor paint brushes

Egg shapes either rubber stamp, foam stamp or stencil. Easy enough to make your own out of cereal or similar weight cardboard. If using rubber stamps you will need an ink pad that will not bleed through your paper.

Tape the paper down on a waterproof surface. Liberally wet the paper, then add a few colors of paint randomly over the paper. Next add sparkling watercolors by flinging on paint in drops. Limit your use of colors for both the background and sparkling watercolors. Too much is not a good thing.

Allow the paper to dry. Once it is dry to the touch, remove the tape. Use a hair dry to heat up the tape if it’s tearing the paper.

Draw your egg shapes on the paper. I worked on the paint side. If you are stamping you may want to work on the backside so the ink doesn’t interfere with the painting.

I used double-sided adhesive to stick my eggs down. Use your preferred adhesive here. Be aware that wet adhesives such as runny glues will damage the card stock.

Using an 8B pencil, I added a horizon line and shadows that I then smudged with a paper stump.
