The Clutter of It All!
I am still sorting through craft supplies from closing the store and moving. I know we all suffer from the “what if I need it” syndrome. I have about six bins that I have to sort through, discard, keep and figure out what gets the small amount of space left in my studio room.
It’s the decision process of figuring out the future vs the right now. As I have gotten older, it has become a bit easier to focus on the few craft techniques I really enjoy. As most of you know I have gotten into watercolor as my primary focus. Painting is really what I am enjoying these days. Collage too!
Time is limited and we all need to focus. If you are unsure of what it is you want to play with and have limited space then pack up some of the tools and materials you are not using. Date the box, bin, etc. If in a year or two you haven’t touched it, then it’s time for it to go. I am speaking to myself here too!!!
I have several boxes of yarn that I have not used in nearly 25 years. The boxes ooze with color and texture when I open them and look at the yarn. Perhaps I need to knit a sweater again!
The same is true with my polymer clay tools and supplies. Metal working too! Just how much collage materials do we need?
Find a neighborhood free library for your finished art, cards, collages, projects. Put packs of cards and projects in one or several. This is a great way to get rid of stamp sets too. You never know who you will make happy by sharing that way. Blessing Boxes count too if you those in your neighborhood.
