Goal Planning
I like to start my upcoming year’s planning in the fall. The back to school season for me is strongly linked to new beginnings, new things and a fresh start. Yes, I am a geek and loved going back to school, along with the 64 color box of new crayons! Art supplies fetish started young!
For me, the last quarter is one where I start planning my upcoming year. I do a look back over the previous three quarters, what did I get done, achieve, and what is still waiting to be done?
This year I have accomplished much and yet, as it always does, it feels like it’s not enough. I am grateful for what I got done, are you? I am grateful that I feel like I have much to do!
I am about half way through my process of creating the vision for next year, what I desire to achieve and how I am going to go about getting there. I have lofty goals, which is good. A strong vision accompanies them, that is how I see the goals coming about. By keeping a definite vision in mind as I go about my life, the greater the chances are that I will achieve them. I will also be open to the opportunities that present themselves as stepping stones towards my goals.
There are various ways to present your vision, usually via a physical vision board. Find photos of what you desire to achieve, print them out and collage them together. A friend of mine draws out her goals and uses her drawings as the components of the vision boards. Find what works for you and make it happen. I may try my hand at sketching out my ideas. We will see.
