Felting

Jack Frost is really cute and now has a permanent place in our Christmas decor lineup.

I have recently fallen down the rabbit hole of felting. I found a fun kit at a yarn shop downtown. I worked mostly in the evening while listening to a book. Needle felting is fairly easy and relaxing. Though my husband did look at me slightly askance the first time he watch me as I poked the needle in and out of the bundle of wool!

Felting with a needle is the art of compacting wool fibers into a semi-solid mass. The wool can be shaped, colors layered on, giving the shapes life.

The Going Gnomes kit  is easy to use. I made up a couple of chickadees first. A small self healing cutting mat is a great work surface for your lap or table top. (PHOTO of chickadees). Then I moved on to a gnome. Felting is so relaxing and somewhat addictive.  I could easily keep going.

I am resisting pulling out the knitting needles and yarn - though the yarn is calling to me, I have enough projects going that I really want to stay focused on my watercolor/urban sketching/nature journaling and art journaling. But who knows what a cold winter will lead me to project wise!
