Watercolor Pencils on Toned Paper

This drawing is about 2x3 inches

I have a love of colored pencils and watercolor pencils, especially when used in untraditional ways. In this case, I have been playing with toned paper and watercolor pencils. Color on the gray page, then wet the water reactive pigment from the pencil. The results are fun. Toned paper is nice because, like gouache, you can add white to brighten up the image.

I use Derwent Inktense water soluble pencil and a Strathormore gray toned sketchbook for this demo. No paid affiliations, just materials I have on hand. Check out the video for the step by step of making this image.
