Loosen Up with Abstract Art
I have been doing many abstracts lately. These fun loose paintings have their own learning curve. They are also a great way to learn how to use your materials and how they react to various papers. Plus, there are no rules, so everything you do is right! You are putting paint or what ever medium you are using to paper or surface and having fun. Give yourself permission to make a mess, slop colors around and scribble on top of the dried paint. Maybe even grab that stack of gel plate prints you have and some markers and go to town. Or apply more paint on top of the gel prints. Reverse that and print with the gel plate on to painted surfaces. Stamp, stencil, there are no restrictions!
Recently, I have been working on handmade watercolor paper that is wonderful. It reacts to watercolor completely differently than say a 100% cotton paper. This information applies to no matter what your craft materials are. Play around with your materials, learn how they react on a variety of mediums.
Explore, experiment and enjoy!
So pull out your craft/art tools or materials and push the boundaries!
