July Going Ons
July so far has seen 4th of July in the USA. Bend, the town I live in has banned fireworks, mainly due to the extreme fire danger we face in town. Sitting on the east side of the Cascade Mountains, Ponderosa Pine and Junipers dominate the town. It’s been super dry for years as any of in the west know and taking steps to eliminate possible fires is huge. The city did a show from Pilot Butte, a cinder cone in the east side of town, that rises about 500 feet above the surrounding area. Other than that it was a quiet-ish evening.
Since the Fourth, my husband and I have celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. And we had to say goodbye to our golden retrieve Harvey. Old age caught up with him in very unkind ways. While it’s hard to say goodbye, it is a relief to see him no longer suffering.
