Diet and Goals

Sketch from my daily challenge that started in December and continues

I fell off the diet over Christmas, too many cookies, but I am back at it. Along the way on the holidays I came across a series of cook books that are grain free, dairy free (mostly) and sugar free-ish.  Daniel Walker’s series of cookbooks have been liberating for me. I am grain free, very low sugar consumption but love me some cookies. Her recipes are excellent. A warning: if you are accustom to large quantities of sugar, her sweets will seem flat and blah. Give your pallet time to adapt to an unsweetened life style.
I even have indulged in hot coco - using macadamia nut milk, 2 squares of mint Theo chocolate bar, 2 tablespoons of coco powder and a tiny dollop of maple syrup. Heat slowly in a pan over medium to low heat, stir continuously so nothing burns. Yum without all the additives and sugar! Adjust the coco powder to your taste and desire for chocolate.

Did you set goals for this new year? Remember that the idea of most goals is to stick with it until it is a habit. I am working with my co-workers to get in 60 minutes of exercise a day. Sounds like a lot but if you break it up into smaller chunks it’s pretty easy. A smart watch will help track it.
